Maybe you have decided to get in shape for 2020 or have always dreamed about the comfort of your own home. Either way, you want to turn your garage into a home gym.
So how do you start the process? After all, you would like an inviting space that is comfortable to train, rather than a harsh oil-painted room you can't wait to leave. Follow these instructions and you have nothing to worry about.
Step one: Draw your space
Before you get to the hardware store, you need to evaluate your free space. Think about the other purposes you use for your garage. Do you have to park your vehicle there too? Do you use it to store large appliances or an additional freezer?
You can still create a garage if you use storage space. However, you still want to get out of the tape and determine your floor area and height. You do not want to discover that your automatic garage door opener leaves insufficient space for the machine to be pulled.
If you are planning to make plyometric jumps, you also need enough space to avoid bumping your head.
Step Two: Clear the junk
You can create extra space by removing the clutter in your garage. This process gives you the bonus of knowing where your every thing is. No more searching for dusty boxes to find the right size handsaw. Your neighbors wander when they see your well-organized space.
Start by investing in slit walls. These walls add versatility to your storage space, allowing you to keep things in baskets and hooks that you can hang. This way you can save everything from rakes to smaller hand tools.
Use any available general storage or set up shelves if space permits. You can also install cabinet buttons, but be sure to leave enough space for the appliances you want.
Step Three: Lead the Climate Control
Depending on where you live, you can freeze in winter and toast in summer if you don't have enough insulation. Both conditions can damage your workout.
You may be thinking, "If I have blood flowing, I'll warm up," one day of freezing. However, when it is cold, the heat is concentrated in the core of your body, leaving your fingers and toes ready to freeze. Extreme heat and humidity can also cause hot exhaustion or heat stroke.
Take the time to properly insulate your new training room. You can also install ceiling fans and air heaters to assist the air conditioning system. If you have the budget, choose ductless heating and cooling. These devices heat and cool inside one device, saving you valuable space. They are also environmentally friendly because they meet the highest energy efficiency guidelines.
Step Four: Install suitable lighting and floor coverings
If you are doing high-impact exercises such as burps, you should be cushioning the floor. Even standing on concrete can cause plantar fasciitis, not to mention bouncing on the surface. The dose of the substance is zero, which means that your body absorbs all the effects.
Insufficient lighting can cause serious injury. If you do not see that you have not attached your weights to the bar, the person may fall off the leg. In addition, if you are prone to migraine, avoid fluorescent lighting. They contain invisible pulses that can cause attacks. LED lighting is an environmentally friendly and headache-free alternative.
Step Five: Choose your outfit
Finally you will come to the fun part – choosing your workout gear! First, you need to evaluate your fitness goals. If you have decided to run a marathon in 2020, the treadmill is the obvious choice. However, they can take up a lot of space, so keep this in mind when searching.
As far as weights are concerned, exercise physiologists disagree on whether free or machine-based versions are better. Both offer many advantages.
Free weights allow for a wider range of motion, but this feature also increases the likelihood of injury. Machines help improve your shape and isolate muscle groups, but they take up much more space than dumbbells. Ultimately, the choice depends on a combination of pragmatism and training goals.
Whatever equipment you choose, leave enough room for stretching. During training, the muscles contract. Stretching after each workout will maintain your range of motion and help prevent injury.
Turn your garage into a fitness studio
With a little ingenuity, you can turn your garage into a fitness studio. Now nothing stands between you and your dream body.
