Relax with family yoga

Yoga is ideal for indoor training. Yoga's low-impact movements, which require only a few square feet of space, help support the physical and mental well-being of you and your family.

Yoga is distinguished from other forms of movement by the fact that it can be practiced by people of all ages and levels. Even with minimal experience, you will begin to feel the benefits almost immediately, so a daily family yoga session is key to keeping everyone spray-free, stress-free, and busy.

A key element of yoga is keeping everyone in control of their body, especially when younger children are involved. Families are advised to form a circle and start with some basic positions, such as fruit and warrior posts.

For the tree, stand on one leg and make a triangle with the other, raising your knee and foot until the sole rests exactly below the knee of your standing leg. When you have found your balance, reach out like the branches of a tree and look out. Hold and return to the starting position (see figure to see how the tree works).

To pose for a warrior, divide your legs a little wider than your shoulders so that your body forms a triangle. Looking ahead, turn your left leg 90 degrees and raise both hands to the sky. Turn your right arm forward and your left arm back, and stretch and bend your left knee over your ankle, allowing your hips to sink slightly toward the floor. Look in the direction of the curved knee and hold for five seconds (click here to see the pose).

And remember, unbalancing is appropriate; Yoga is a continuous learning process that, together with practice, improves self-confidence, concentration and abilities.
