Supporting local businesses on this Mother's Day

As a local family business, we believe in the ability of small businesses in our neighborhood, all of whom need our support more than ever before. We have run local businesses on social media and in our newsletter on a weekly basis, and this week we cover all women / parent companies. Check out some of the ones we love near our club below!

Curio Spice: founded by Claire Cheney, the Porter Square store is currently closed, but the online store still works 50% off and free shipping on purchases over $ 100. Check it out and be sure to order Mala salt! 100% of the proceeds go to restaurants through the partner organization Off Their Plate to provide meals to border workers. For Mother 's Day, treat your mother with a gift card or a virtual spice class (schedule here)!

OLIVES AND ARM: Because unique gifts are offered to local makers and new brands in the South End, owner Sofi Madison has had to completely change his store online during the pandemic. He has gone to the shops every day and lovingly sent all his online orders. Shop on his curated list gifts for mother's day, gift boxes, gift cards and more!

Juicy greens: Founded by Ammy Lowney, Jamaica Plain Juice Bar and Cafe is for the community and family. They were scheduled to open a second place in the West End this spring, which has been put on hold due to the pandemic, but they are still open on Jamaica Plain for online orders and local delivery and also offer special bags, groceries and health baskets perfect for Mother’s Day, along with some delicious with a treat!

City grape: Founded by Hadley Douglas and his wife TJ, the team at this South End wine shop has been working feverishly to get and deliver all their supplies online, so go ahead and send your mother some wine! Virtual tastings and happy lessons are also offered through Zoom (see here), as well as the unique wine selections of women winemakers and farm-to-bottle offers.

L’Optique Boutique: Founded by Carol Tianni, this Somerville store offers unique and custom prescription glasses and styles based on your lifestyle and optician needs. For Mother's Day, Carol has a great choice designer sunglasses 30% cheaper as well as gift cards and accessories. Healthcare professionals also save 10% off the price of "HW10" full priced items.

Drive Pies: The Brookline Bakery and Cafe, founded by Fran Kolenik, has been open during the pandemic, offering online ordering for a limited menu of favorites available on Wednesday, Friday or Saturday, so there’s still time to place orders: Mom! For Mother's Day, there is also a mini-shot and crafted apple cake sets and the signature "Ugly Cakes".

Celeste: The Peruvian Range, founded by Maria Rondeau and Juanma Calderon, on Somerville Union Square has been open daily for pick-up and delivery from 4 to 9 p.m., while also serving heroes on the front lines. Treat your mother with a gift card or a delicious dinner!

Sofra, Sarma and Oleana: These incredible Cambridge & Somerville restaurants are run, founded and run by women … mothers, executives, chefs, entrepreneurs, wine directors and more. Oleana is temporarily closed due to the pandemic, but Sofra and Sarma are open for departure and delivery on Mother's Day with great menu offers. We delight in these amazing places and the women behind their recent James Beard nomination – Ana Sortum, Maura Kilpatrick, Didem Hosgel, Cassie Piuma, Liz Barwick, Arielle Singer, Paige Lombardi, Sophie Gees, Sara Fetbroth and Theresa Paopao!
