Recently, 9 days later, I returned to the Maldives, the most vibrant dreamland on Earth. I have been fortunate enough to visit this sky before, and I am struck by how its luminous beauty will never dim; on this trip I visited wonderful Westin Maldives Miriandhoo, A jewel of the Westin Hotels and Resorts group crown. I have worked with Westin for many years The welfare movement Ambassador and I have experienced many of their attributes throughout the world; as such, I know of an ethos of well-being that permeates every detail of this hotel group, and one that I am passionate about every trip. While I hosted the Westin Maldives Miriandhoo (from now on) WMM), I experienced the purest expression of their philosophy of well-being, free from the constraints and boundaries of the stormy cityscape, and was able to feel the peace and quiet of island life. Image-perfect postcard-style powder-soft sandy beaches, mesmeric sunsets, fresh seafood and perfect temperatures make it the most uncomfortable honeymoon destination; for me, just a few days later, i restored the hours I had lost so far that I felt recharged, relaxed and refreshed. To facilitate consumption, this overview is compiled according to the 6 main pillars of the Westin Welfare Movement as follows; 1) Feel good, 2) Move well, 3) Eat well, 4) Sleep well 5) Play well, and 6) Work well.
1) SPA COMPLEX – "Feel Well"
Any improvement in health necessarily involves the opportunity to enroll in one's physical and mental well-being and focus on nourishing oneself. I think there is no better way to do this than to devote an hour or two literally to doing nothing. Turning it off completely, removing consciousness from earthly concerns, and relaxing your body and mind is something I can really achieve only in a relaxing spa and this heavenly facility can do it all perfectly.
As you hover over the bridge you will discoverHeavenly spa”, Sitting at the top of the island elegantly, exploring the far-reaching turquoise blue. A dramatic yet soothing view awaits you inside, and only the waves that adjust to the coral reefs in the yard disturb the silence.
There are countless offers. When doing a massage, of course, you might want to close your eyes and fall asleep, or keep them open to watch the fish swim below the glass floor. Personally, as a trained sports masseur, I have always preferred a deeper massage to smooth out all the knots and muscle imbalances.
Feel Well's credentials extend beyond the spa and penetrate the entire island and are nourished by the subsequent 4 pillars.
2) FLOOR CENTER – & # 39; MOVE WELL & # 39;
At check-in, you will be offered a running training session with an in-house trainer as part of the Westin Run Concierge concept. Brightly and early in the morning, on the first morning, we repeatedly flew an island about 2 km long, while the sunrise of the Maldives was able to fly the island with crepuscular radiation. Running early in the race is a great way to see the island, understand the geography and layout of the space, and also burn calories early to set up a full and fresh day ahead.
Don't have a training kit? No problem, like WMM will lend you a fresh set of workout clothes so nothing can stand in your way. One thing I particularly like about Westin real estate is that they deal with this gear rental program so every guest can rent a fresh one A new balance branded kit, including fresh sneakers, priced up to $ 5 and free in some features (including this one). This means that you can pack light workouts and sport activities are accessible to all visitors, even if this was not the main reason for your vacation.
The gym complex itself is absolutely gorgeous, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the beach and out to the ocean elevated to the level. This is rare in the Maldives, as most buildings are at sea level, but this brilliant panopticon gives you a magnificent view of the ocean and the wider island. You'll find plenty of massagers, including TRX, kettle clocks, treadmills, rowers, elliptical cables, cable machines, dumbbells and more, as well as a trainer to guide you if you need help or motivation. It was very easy a gym to work out, which means there was less reason to do it.
The second morning I started with a glorious sunrise yoga session. That was just what my body needed. After ten long hours of sitting on an airplane, my body was so tight and even a gentle yoga exercise was an effort, but I enjoyed so much relief after that. It is part of my mandatory routine (wherever possible) anytime I travel, and it is provided for in this Westin.
3) RESTAURANTS – EATS WELL
The Westin Group has a nutrition specialist-led partnership with SuperFoodsRx and has created a nutritionally balanced and highly healthy menu for all of these hotels, complemented by a suite of revitalizing juices curated by The Juicery. I need to WMM, the chef has covered this template with local Maldivian flavors to reflect what comes from local sources and forms the backbone of the local style; I had the pleasure of cooking to make a Maldivian tuna curry dish to try this style and I was thrilled with it (recipe to follow soon!). This made it very easy to order from the regular menu throughout the menu without having to change the dish to make the chef healthier. There are five major ports of call to cover food;
THE KITCHEN'S KITCHEN
It was my favorite restaurant on the island. It is located in a spacious, bright and airy space, overlooking the hotel's infinity pool and beyond, with hollow triple-height ceilings and a satisfying aspect. This gives you the opportunity to sit indoors or out without feeling like you have to make a choice between the two. The menu includes "Eat Well" options, which include fresh "daytime fishing" (often like Maldivian yellow bluefin tuna / barramundi / reef fish), as well as some toppings for salads and soups. Here's a wide selection to help keep things interesting throughout your vacation, which means you won't suffer from the menu fatigue that often occurs in captive island settings.
This is a smaller and more intimate beachfront restaurant where you can watch how chefs create every dish in the living kitchen. Sitting on fresh fish dishes of local origin, sitting barefoot with your feet in the powdered sand, is something impossible to relax. The flavors are spicier than Icelandic cuisine, with more crustaceans on offer.
I was lucky to be here WMM the same day that the big yellowish tuna was caught, which was being prepared partly for eating and partly for freezing, given the cumbersome size of the thing! Undoubtedly, it was the freshest and most delicious tuna I've ever had, with just one soy sauce lime to make it a delicious masterpiece.
Pearl itself is a central restaurant on the island and allows you to enjoy your meal either outdoors, on deck or indoors. This is a tribute to London's big Japanese restaurants, but with the fresh ingredients typical of local fishermen.
This generous porch above the reception, one level up, is part of the play area where you can take pictures of the pool, enjoy board games or just hang out. It's a lovely place to hang out with others when you prefer to hang out – or just grab a drink and watch the explosions of colors over the Indian Ocean. It also acts as a cozy night umbrella when the evening monsoon snack decides to break free!
It's the backbone of a frantic hotel experience; here is a great selection of cuisine – Chinese, Japanese, French and more. My favorite choice is the classic omelette and one of the freshly squeezed juices as well as some exotic local fruits, but it covers about 2% of what's on offer! The breakfast area is physically located in the wonderful space of the Island Kitchen so that you have a fresh feel throughout the breakfast experience.
4) PREMISES – Sleep well
The beach villas (the accommodation I chose because I like a very solid base underground!) Are spacious, with minimal acclaim that promotes cognitive lightness, and has all the sea views. They all have their own small private slice of beach and of course their own private pool. Depending on the orientation of your villa, you can enjoy a stunning sunrise to wake you up in the morning or a masterpiece of sunset to put you to sleep.
For all ordinary readers FitnessOnToast, you might think I'm a little obsessed with sleep … That would be accurate. And why not ?! We spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping, so it's important to nail it. Sleep helps speed up muscle recovery, restores and maintains mental alertness, dissipates neurotoxin accumulation during waking, releases human growth hormone so you can recover from many other things, so it's worth investing. After some rather stressful months in London, I had not realized how stressed and tired I was before coming to the Maldives. After a quiet night in Westin Heavenly bed (the world standard at these hotels and basically a huge mattress box, perfectly supported and surrounded by blissful 250-thread satin sheets), I felt human once more. Adding a special sleep well menu for your vacation is a nice touch.
5) ACTIVITY – "GAME GOOD"
There is a common misconception that fleeing the island is synonymous with in-work poverty; on the contrary. Here is a tick to the countless activities, many of which come from the island's well-equipped dive center! I only read a few notes …
Snorkeling – Mirandhoo Reefs offer extraordinary viewing opportunities – you will find a clown lifeblood, a powder-blue surgical fish, I spotted a mantle fly and countless other species. You can snorkel at any time from your private beach. The hotel organizes excursions or guided tours of the island's wool reefs.
Watching Dolphins – as you can imagine, there is no guarantee that you will notice a dolphin as it may be their home advertisement, which can be anywhere in the Indian Ocean. However, employees know their location surprisingly well, so observations are common. Dolphins swim very close to their boats while driving, so you are almost a little scared they might hit the hull – but that's perfectly safe!
Tennis – there is a large tennis court that you can book for games at any time. It also acts as a football field in case you want to take part in an employee match!
Cooking courses – The island has locals, which means there is a lot of culinary knowledge in this continent. This is an exceptional way to get under the skin of Maldives fares so you return home not only for a rest, but with an extra twist on your gourmet bow!
6) WORK WELL
In the midst of such isolation, you may not expect such a fully equipped business center with super-fast wifi, comfortable ergonomic chairs and all the necessary chargers, but there are actually several around the island. They host corporate escapes and workshops and have several conference rooms with presentation facilities. Although not appropriate for my vacation, I appreciated the subtle presence of the facility. I regularly used ultra-fast Wi-Fi for all Instagramming, but also for a few blameworthy Netflix streams!
My 9 days here were changing. I tried almost everything there was and drank deeply into the restorative elixir that flows from such a beautiful island life. If you are already familiar with Westin's statement, it is your nirvana. If you have never tried it before, this is the perfect place to start your own. Their formula contains key threads that run through all of their properties, so I always have the idea of going back to something comfortingly familiar, but at the same time, different enough not to feel like an abandoned carbon copy. Whether you are new to it or not, it is certain that great weather (even rainfall within 30 minutes), cuisine, facilities and views will leave a lasting impression on your vacation history. Although it was not my first visit to the Maldives, it was not that special and left me with the precious peace and quiet that guided me until early 2020.
